NBC is moving forward with a single-camera comedy from Mindy Kaling, the creator, star and executive producer of “The Mindy Project,” and executive producer Charlie Grandy, Deadline.com reports.
The network has given a put pilot commitment to the project.
“Written by Kaling and Grandy, the untitled comedy centers on a charismatic gym owner with no ambition who lives with his younger brother, a gorgeous idiot,” Deadline reports. “Their simple life of women and working out is put on hold when they have to take in the older brother’s son — whom they have never met.”
Kaling broke out a few years back on NBC’s “The Office.” She signed a writing, producing and acting deal over the summer with Universal Television, which is producing along with Kaling’s Kaling International banner and 3 Arts Entertainment.
