New details have surfaced about the incident over the weekend in Paris in which Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint, including an explanation for why Kardashian had no security.
The New York Post’s Page Six reports that the robbery took place in an apartment at a boutique hotel where Kardashian and her husband, Kanye West, had stayed before and where a lot of celebrities stay in Paris.
The report cites a friend of Kardashian saying the reality star felt no need for extra security.
“It sounds crazy, but understand she’s in her own home, in an apartment with only one entry point, which is coded with two keys and keypad,” the friend said. “If a guard was there, what would have happened differently? Her guard doesn’t carry a gun. They had five guns; most likely more.”
Kardashian’s bodyguard, Pascal Duvier, was assigned that night to Kourtney Kardashian, Kim’s sister.
“When she’s home, she doesn’t feel the need to have a security guard outside her door at all times,” the friend noted. “In Bel Air they have a 24-hour, four-person security detail. Plus state-of-the-art motion sensors and security cameras. So when she’s in her primary residence, she’s got everything; when she’s in New York, she’s got more. But when she’s in Paris, there’s five family members. There’s Kendall, Kourtney, Kris; they’re all doing different things. There’s more people for security to be covering. Kim was in for the night; she was not doing anything.”
Kardashian’s friend also offered details about Kim’s ordeal in the apartment. “She had a person with a gun to her head the whole time. They didn’t bind her hands until the very end until they’d cased everything,” the friend said. “But they didn’t bind and gag her until the end, just in case they possibly needed her. She was not put into the bathtub until the very end.”
The robbers were mainly after jewelry, the friend said, and in particular the $4 million ring Kardashian recently received from Kanye, which was reportedly part of the haul.
