Bill Cosby’s Attorneys Argue He’s Too Blind to Defend Himself

Nov 2, 2016  •  Post A Comment

Attorneys for comedian Bill Cosby waged a multipronged effort to get a criminal case against their client thrown out, including arguing in court today in Pennsylvania that his eyesight has deteriorated to the point where he can’t identify his accusers or otherwise help with his defense, the AP reports.

Cosby’s defense team is trying to prevent a sexual assault case against the 79-year-old entertainer from going to trial.

“His attorneys also portrayed Cosby as a political pawn who is being prosecuted only because a suburban Philadelphia district attorney used the public furor over the comic to get elected last year,” the AP reports. “And they renewed their argument that Cosby’s lurid 2005 deposition from a related lawsuit should not be admitted at his trial, saying he answered questions under oath only after being assured he would not be charged with a crime.”

The two-day pre-trial hearing ended today with no rulings from the judge, with another set of hearings scheduled for next month. Cosby is scheduled to go on trial by June 2017 in the 2004 case, in which he could get 10 years in prison.

  1. Nope. Lets ask some blind people what they can and can’t do. Defend themselves? Of course they can. They didn’t need to see this coming. What’s Cosby’s excuse? He’s been doing this for 40 years. It’s hard to bounce a defense strategy against the unconscious.

  2. So why was Cosby planning that recently canned NBC comeback show if he’s so blind?

  3. Cosby doesn’t have to defend himself. That’s what his lawyers are for.
