Media Heavyweight Reportedly Exploring a New 24-Hour News Channel

One of the biggest players in media is said to be exploring the possibility of launching a new 24-hour digital news channel.

The New York Post cites unnamed sources saying the project has been in the works for several months at ABC and its corporate parent Disney.

“Our sources say ABC News chief James Goldston is spearheading the effort, and is bullish on it given the election bump from recent Facebook live experiments,” The Post reports.

If it comes together, the new channel would reportedly launch next year.

“ABC used to have its own stand-alone news channel, ABC News Now, which it rolled together with Univision’s Fusion,” The Post notes. “But when ABC exited the Fusion joint venture, it left the network without a stand-alone channel, just at a time when other outlets were recording sky-high ratings thanks to the election.”

  1. Well, ABC is pretty biased to left, and if they hope to make any $$$$ with this, maybe THEY should try to go head to head with Fox News. Adding another of the same flavor of ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC et al isn’t going to make them a dime and probably end up costing them a fortune.

  2. Sir William, if any one these right-wing owned corporate outlets (except maybe MSNBC) were to the left, we would hear stories on climate change, banksters not in jail, banks WAY to big to fail, pipelines that we don’t need, pipelines that are planned to sell more oil to China, not to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, the Democratic party’s sabotage of the Bennie campaign and I could go on. News flash: These networks get their income from right-wing corporations that don’t give a shit about the working class or poisoning the planet as they troll for more and more profits and run cute kitty videos from YouTube and call it News.
