Plans were announced today for a reboot of a long-running cooking show that has an avid following. Food Network announced plans for the new show “Iron Chef Gauntlet,” a reimagined take on “Iron Chef America.”

“Iron Chef America,” which continues to air on Food Network after premiering in 2005, is an adaptation of the Japanese show “Iron Chef.”

“The inimitable Alton Brown, ‘Iron Chef America’s’ iconic commentator, is set to return as host and master of ceremonies and also confirmed the news today on his social media platforms,” Food Network notes in today’s announcement. “Pre-production is currently under way for the new series, which will take its cues from the original along with some new twists and turns.  Production is scheduled for early 2017 with a target series launch date in Q2 2017.”

The new program is being produced by Triage Entertainment in conjunction with Food Network.
