First Performer Confirmed for Trump Inauguration — and It’s a Reality TV Star

Amid rumors that Donald Trump is struggling to attract celebrity performers for his inauguration, the first performer has been confirmed — and one major rumor has been shot down.

Jackie Evancho, a 16-year-old who broke out on the reality competition “America’s Got Talent,” will sing the National Anthem at the event, according to media reports. TMZ.com reports that the details were worked out Tuesday.

Evancho gained attention at a young age and has been releasing recordings since 2009. She competed on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” in 2010, finishing second to Michael Grimm.

TMZ was reporting earlier that Evancho and Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli would be working on a duet for the inauguration, but that report appears to have been premature. The website reported later that Bocelli had yet to agree to appear at the event.

  1. I can’t believe that Ted Nugent isn’t available.
