The creator of the Broadway hit “Hamilton” has an ambitious follow-up project in the works, adapting the fantasy trilogy “The Kingkiller Chronicle” for a film franchise and TV series. The AP reports that Lin-Manuel Miranda will serve as a producer on the franchise and will compose original music and write the songs.

Pat Rothfuss, author of the novels, is on board as executive producer for both the feature films and the TV series.

The book trilogy launched in 2007 with “The Name of the Wind,” followed in 2011 by “The Wise Man’s Fear.” The third book, under the working title “The Doors of Stone,” has yet to surface.

Lionsgate is behind the new project, which includes an option for a stage adaptation. The AP reports that the first film, based on “The Name of the Wind,” will be penned by “Transformers 5” writer Lindsey Beer.
