Here’s a List of the Musicians Who Have Turned Down Invitations to Perform at Trump’s Inauguration

While the Beach Boys appear to still be making up their minds, as we reported previously, Vulture has compiled a list of artists who have turned down invitations from Donald Trump to perform at his inauguration.

Along with the recent high-profile rejection of the Trump offer by Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli — who was put off when a “Boycott Bocelli” movement arose on social media — the report notes that Garth Brooks, Kiss, Celine Dion, Elton John and David Foster have all apparently turned down offers from the Trump camp.

The report notes that a member of the Trump transition team declared a while back that Elton John would perform at the event, prompting a series of curt denials from the singer — who already was miffed at Trump for using his song “Tiny Dancer” during the campaign without John’s permission.

John is quoted in the piece saying: “I’m not a Republican in a million years. Why not ask Ted f—ing Nugent?”

  1. Trumpf hasn’t gotten around to using swastikas yet, but it’s clear that smart, talented people want absolutely nothing to do with this vile, destructive fascist. His inauguration will be a farce, any way you slice it. We all know at Hillary Clinton won the election by more than 2.86 million votes, and it’s only a matter of time before the illegitimate Orange Twitler gets impeached. Until then, we will do everything possible to oppose him, resist him, and destroy him.

    • You write like you’re reading my mind. Are you Kreskin? Great post.

  2. Ah, the latest way to get press – claim you “turned down” Trump’s request to play at his inaugural.

On the other hand it’s a great way of making sure about half the country will never purchase your music again.

    • Let’s review the pattern here: Trump’s team publicly announces an artist, such as Elton John, will be performing at his inauguration. Then, that artist publicly announces he will not perform. And from that you, and apparently “half the country”, gather that the artist is lying about turning down the request to perform.

I suppose this logic is not surprising coming from the half of the country who voted based on fake news headlines they scrolled past on Facebook.

  3. I am sure that when all of you get your tax cuts you will donate it to Charity.

  4. The only tax cuts coming will be for the rich, guess some of you missed that in his rally speeches and debates.

  5. Biff and RealTVCritics, you guys are piss poor losers. Your team lost the election because the BETTER half of the country voted for the winner.
It’s time you both put on your big boy panties an realize the country is going to be better now that we know that Hillary lost, fair and square.
I agree with Bill, everyone on this list will never see a dime of my money again. They sell their services for money to almost anyone that will pay them. We have a name for that when women do it, but these folks go by the name of “Entertainers”. Does that mean they just didn’t get offered enough money to perform?

  6. That they do not have A List entertainers jumping in says more than a lot! Bigotry speaks loud and vlear!
