Joss Whedon, the creator of hit TV series including “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and director of “Avengers” superhero movies, is getting backlash after likening Ivanka Trump, the daughter of Donald Trump, to a dog.

Whedon, an outspoken Trump critic, posted a photo of Jacob Kushner, Ivanka’s husband and a top adviser to Donald Trump, on his Twitter account, along with the message: “Hey, keep your eyes on this f–king prize too. He’s a Voldemort in training, & unlike the Pekingese he married under, can play the long game.”

The tweet drew a number of angry responses. The Hollywood Reporter notes that one user wrote: “Just so we’re on the same page here. You just called Ivanka a dog because you don’t agree with Trump. Classy.”

Wrote another user: “The left used to be better than this. You used to be better than this.”

The criticism does not appear to have moved Whedon off his message, with his Twitter critique of Trump still going strong. On Wednesday he tweeted: “We have a dictator. Wow. We’re THAT country now.”

In another message, Whedon wrote: “Trump’s favorite catchphrase is ‘maybe there’s something going on,’ which I think is literally the sum total of his acquired knowledge.”

  1. It is so refreshing to see one liberal Democrat after another finally show their true self. Intolerant, whining, sore losers. When are all the Hollywood “What I say matters because I’m and Actor” people leaving for Canada? A promise is a promise.

  2. Clearly, Whedon’s tweet was saying that the Pekingese was TRUMP himself, not Ivanka. The phrase was “the Pekingese he [Kushner] married under,” with the “under” implying that Ivanka was the Pekingese’s daughter.
