NBC announced plans for a prime-time special on the Obama presidency to air later this week. The one-hour “Dateline NBC” special “Barack Obama: The Reality of Hope” is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 13, at 10 p.m. (9 p.m. CT).

NBC and the other major broadcast networks will also be airing Obama’s farewell speech tomorrow night, Tuesday, Jan. 10, as we previously reported. Click here for schedule details for the big four networks.

The NBC special will include a sitdown interview with Lester Holt, portions of which will also be featured on other NBC News platforms including MSNBC, “Today,” “NBC Nightly News” and NBCNews.com.

Holt will be traveling with Obama Tuesday to conduct the interview aboard Air Force One and before his speech in Chicago.

“Holt will have rare access, traveling on Air Force One with President Obama on his final trip to Chicago — the birthplace of his campaign — as Commander in Chief,” NBC notes in a press release. “The two will also visit a restaurant in Hyde Park to discuss how the president believes he delivered on the promises made eight years ago and his hope for the nation moving forward.”
