A new broadcast series has the distinction of notching the highest-rated premiere for any new show this season in a number of key demos.

The series is the CBS reality competition “Hunted,” which bowed Sunday and benefited from its lead-in, the AFC Championship Game, in which the New England Patriots knocked the Pittsburgh Steelers out of the playoffs.

CBS reports that “Hunted” averaged 11.83 million viewers with a 4.0 average rating in the key 18-49 demo along with a 4.7 in 25-54 and a 3.2 in 18-34. The network cites Nielsen time zone-adjusted ratings.

It was the highest-rated debut for any new program on television this season in the three demos, according to CBS. In total viewers, the turnout for “Hunted” was second to CBS’s own “Bull.”

“Hunted” is a fugitive competition featuring nine teams of two people each who are on the run as the show’s skilled investigators try to track them down. Contestants compete for a $250,000 grand prize.

Nielsen reported that the NFL game delivered 47.95 million total viewers.
