A popular TV sportscaster revealed in an interview with Sports Illustrated’s The MMQB that she was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year. Erin Andrews kept working after her diagnosis back in September, and remained on the job even as she underwent surgery in October.

Five days after surgery she was on the sidelines for an NFL showdown between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys. Andrews was declared to be free of cancer in November.

Andrews, who also hosts “Dancing with the Stars” and was taping that show at the time, kept the diagnosis secret while she dealt with her medical situation.

Andrews works as a sideline reporter for Fox NFL, following a long stint with ESPN and a role as a contributor to ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

In the interview piece, Emily Kaplan writes: “She refused to miss football. Before she was wheeled into the operating room at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Andrews gave strict orders to her oncologist: ‘I’m not watching any football games at home. This is [Fox’s] Super Bowl year, and I’m not missing the Super Bowl.’”
