CBS is moving forward with a comedy project from “How I Met Your Mother” creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the network picked up the pilot “Distefano,” which stars Chris Distefano and is written by Bays and Thomas.

“The multicamera/hybrid comedy, which landed at CBS in August with a hefty pilot-production commitment, is inspired by the comedy of Distefano and centers on Izzy and Chris, two 20-somethings raising their newborn daughter and merging their meddling families — one Puerto Rican, one Italian,” THR reports.

Bays and Thomas will write the script and will executive produce through their Bays-Thomas banner, based at Sony Pictures Television, the report notes.
