Louis C.K.’s next live stand-up comedy special will be rolling out in a few weeks on Netflix, which has exclusive rights to his next two specials. Variety reports that “2017,” filmed in Washington, D.C., is set to premiere April 4.
“C.K. is no stranger to the streaming world; he released his 2011 special ‘Live from the Beacon Theater’ exclusively on his own website for $5, and several of his other specials have been available on Netflix for years — ‘2017’ will merely be the first to debut as a Netflix original,” Variety reports.
The report quotes Ted Sarandos, chief content officer for Netflix, saying: “Louis has been one of the most innovative comedy voices in this new era of stand-up. He has also been a thought leader in the business of comedy. We have marveled at his creativity and his ability to invent comedically and commercially, and are thrilled that he is bringing his newest specials to Netflix.”
