Under Pressure From the Kremlin, Bill O’Reilly Digs In

Fox News Channel host Bill O’Reilly is digging in his heels after getting into a beef with the Kremlin, which requested an apology over O’Reilly’s calling Russian President Vladimir Putin a “killer.”

As we reported Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed concern over O’Reilly’s reference, made during an interview with Donald Trump. Peskov told reporters on a conference call: “We consider such words from the Fox TV company to be unacceptable and insulting, and honestly speaking, we would prefer to get an apology from such a respected TV company.”

O’Reilly addressed the apology request on his show Monday night — you can see his response in the video clip below, posted by Fox News. Said O’Reilly: “Apparently the Putin administration in Moscow, demanding that I, your humble correspondent, apologize for saying Ol’ Vlad is a killer. So I am working on that apology, but it may take a little time. Might want to check in with me around 2023.”

Peskov responded to O’Reilly’s refusal to apologize by saying it hurts the reputation of Fox News, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Peskov was quoted by the Russian news agency Interfax saying today: “If an offense is made by a journalist of a news outlet and is later silenced by its management, [it] characterizes that news outlet in a bad way.”

  1. Oh My…The WORLD mourns as Russia runs for a “safe space.”

  2. Is Putin going to apologize for all of the people he has killed and continues to kill in the Ukraine? When that happens people like O’Reilly can start apologizing.
