The first six presidents who have been lined up for History’s new scripted anthology series “The Commanders” are Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, James Madison and Thomas Jefferson.

History announced this week that each installment of the series, which is in development, will run from four to ten hours long.

“The Commanders” is being developed as an annual event. The Clinton project is based on Peter Baker’s New York Times bestseller “The Breach: Inside the Impeachment and Trial of William Jefferson Clinton.” “Rise of Reagan” is based on “The Invisible Bridge: The Fall of Nixon and the Rise of Reagan,” by Rick Perlstein.

Other presidents who are in the works for future projects include Washington, Lincoln and Eisenhower.
