Rachel Maddow’s widely criticized “revelation” of Donald Trump’s tax returns — the most prevalent analogy seems to be to the large-scale letdown that was Geraldo Rivera’s opening of Al Capone’s vault on live TV back in 1986 — produced record ratings for her MSNBC show.

TVbytheNumbers.com cites Nielsen figures indicating Tuesday’s installment of “The Rachel Maddow Show” delivered 4.13 million total viewers and a 1.0 average rating in the 18-49 demo, leading all original shows on cable for the day in both metrics. The turnout was also an all-time high for Maddow’s show.

“WWE Smackdown” was the No. 2 show on cable Tuesday in the 18-49 demo with a 0.9 average rating, ahead of HGTV’s “Fixer Upper,” USA’s “Chrisley Knows Best” and OWN’s “The Haves and the Have Nots,” all with 0.7 averages.

As for Maddow’s cable news competition on Tuesday, her head-to-head rival on Fox News Network, “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” along with the FNC mainstays “The O’Reilly Factor” and “Hannity,” all settled for 0.3 averages in 18-49 — barely making the top 25 for the day and trailing “Maddow” by wide margins.

The three Fox News shows still delivered sizable turnouts in total viewers, led by “O’Reilly” with 3.543 million, then “Carlson” with 3.015 million and “Hannity” with 2.698 million.

What he should have said was:
“You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, and when you think about it, that gives you pretty good odds and good ratings.” Right Rachel.

  2. So the purveyor of fake news is the queen of hypocrisy
Rachel Maddow wouldn’t know news id it bit her in the ample buttocks
