Netflix will complete, restore and release the unfinished final film from “Citizen Kane” director Orson Welles, who died in 1985.
The AP reports that the streaming service acquired the global rights to “The Other Side of the Wind.”
“Netflix’s announcement Tuesday brings to a close the decades-long mystery surrounding one of cinema’s greatest filmmakers. Welles began shooting the film in 1970 but never completed it,” the AP reports.
The film is a Hollywood satire about a filmmaker trying to make a comeback, the report notes. The cast includes John Huston, Dennis Hopper and Peter Bogdanovich, who has reportedly helped out with the editing.
Producer Frank Marshall is on board to oversee the project’s completion.
