After a video surfaced that appears to show Rod Stewart doing a mock beheading, the “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” singer issued an apology. Rolling Stone reports that the video gag, which was apparently inspired by “Game of Thrones,” drew backlash including comparisons to ISIS propaganda killings.

The 15-second clip was shot while Stewart was on tour in Abu Dhabi. Stewart can be seen in the video pretending to slice the throat of a man who’s kneeling in the sand. The video surfaced on Instagram and then made the rounds, including being posted on YouTube.

Stewart issued a statement saying: “From re-enacting the Beatles’ Abbey Road crossing to spontaneously playing out ‘Game Of Thrones,’ we were simply larking about pre-show. Understandably, this has been misinterpreted and I send my deepest apologies to those who have been offended.”

  1. I’m a fan of Game of Thrones. That said, I cannot believe Rod Stewart is this STUPID !! He should be issued a card that he must pull out and show anyone he meets that says “I’m an inconsiderate idiot. Please forgive me in advance.”
