Schwarzenegger Severs Ties With NBC’s ‘Apprentice’ — Cites Show’s ‘Baggage’

Did Arnold Schwarzenegger just fire a parting shot at Donald Trump on his way out the door at NBC’s “The New Celebrity Apprentice”?

The actor and former California governor quit the show, telling CNN in a statement: “I loved every second of working with NBC and Mark Burnett. Everyone — from the celebrities to the crew to the marketing department — was a straight 10, and I would absolutely work with all of them again on a show that doesn’t have this baggage.”

NBC had not commented, and has not announced whether the show will be picked up for another season — a prospect that may be less likely now.

Donald Trump, who used to be the show’s host and who remains an executive producer, unloaded on Schwarzenegger and the show on social media during its recently concluded season, particularly mocking its low ratings.

“Schwarzenegger’s decision comes after his debut season of the rebranded ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ drew modest numbers for NBC,” CNN notes. “The series premiered back in January with 4.9 million viewers.”

  1. NBC could always see if Bill Gates wants to raise money for various charities as the new host for the New Celebrity Apprentice.

  2. As usual, Ahnuuuld cannot accept responsibility for his own lack of drawing an audience…

  3. NBC could also ask Rosie O’Donnell to be the new host.

  4. Is no one bothered by the fact that our “president” is still an executive producer on this show? Are taxpayer dollars being used to coordinate his official schedule as president with his outside activities?

  5. I am sure that if he had manipulated his schedule Hollywood and the NY Times would have let us know. Even if he manipulated his schedule it appears it didn’t do much good for the show.
