Billed as the world’s greatest collection of animation, a massive video library of more than 5,000 titles from Looney Tunes, Hanna-Barbera and MGM will be the focal point of Boomerang, a new standalone premium video subscription service. Launching this spring, the service is the result of a partnership of Time Warner’s Turner and Warner Bros.

The ad-free service will carry a price tag of $4.99 a month, with a 7-day free trial, or $39.99 a year, with a 30-day free trial.

“Boomerang will provide audiences instant and exclusive access to both brand-new original series and timeless franchises like Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, The Jetsons and The Flintstones, among many others,” the companies said in announcing the service. “Launching with a vast number of episodes, new content will be added weekly for kids, families and animation lovers of all ages to enjoy.”

  1. A great idea with a great price. CBS and others should be looking at this. When a couple pay $30.00 to see a movie, $40.00 for a year seems more than reasonable. When most of what is on your network is reruns, what is the real value? This seems to be more reasonable, especially if you are trying to get the cord cutters, who are cutting because they are paying too much.

  2. Given the name and ownership I assume it is the same as the Boomerang channel we already have. Will the channel be going away, will it be off the air (so to speak), now internet-only?
