Washington Up in Arms Over Snoop Dogg Clip — Here’s the ‘Trump Assassination’ Video That Has Alarmed Trump, Ted Cruz and Others

The new Snoop Dogg video “Badbadnotgood,” which includes a scene in which the rapper fires a toy gun at the head of a clown figure resembling Donald Trump, is generating plenty of attention — including from the president.

Trump responded to the video with a tweet this morning in which he wrote: “Can you imagine what the outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!”

Meanwhile, TMZ.com reports that Sen. Ted Cruz was among those expressing disapproval of the video. The website posted an interview clip in which Cruz said he hadn’t seen the video, but added: “I think it really is in poor taste to be making fun of murdering someone, in particular assassinating the president. We have a really sad history in this country of attempted and successful assassinations, and it’s irresponsible for a musician or artist to encourage murdering the president.”

  1. LOVE IT!!!!!

  2. Is it any wonder why places like Chicago, Detroit, Newark, Compton and so many others cities are in such deplorable condition – That a significant number of people consider this music or art or poetry or entertaining is a national disgusting reality. The one comment above is proof positive that their are mentally troubled people like S.Thane Ashley who want to be identified as approving of such garbage.

    • It’s called satire, man. I can’t say I’m a big Snoop fan (and I watched the video on mute) but there’s a long, storied artistic tradition of using caricatures of the President doing all kinds of things as a metaphor for the actions of government (the video for Genesis’ “Land of Confusion” comes to mind).
Can’t help but notice no one’s upset over the “clown on clown” violence elsewhere in the video, where police clown kills citizen clown in his car, for example.
Anyway it’s totally appropriate to depict Trump as a clown seeing as how he’s the most clueless, buffoonish President we may have ever had. And anyone who thinks the use of a toy gun (complete with “BANG!” flag) in a symbolic gesture is in any way encouraging or glorifying assassination needs their heads examined. I mean Orangey McClownshoes is even shown alive and well seconds later, getting a contact high from Snoop’s blunt. So get over yourself and jump down off that high horse, lest the thin air damage your brain further.
