While we still don’t have official confirmation from CBS that the “Big Bang Theory” prequel “Sheldon” has a pilot order, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the project is moving forward — and some key casting decisions have been made.

“After an extensive casting search, the half-hour comedy has found its young Dr. Sheldon Cooper in ‘Big Little Lies’ actor Iain Armitage, as well as Sheldon’s young mother with Zoe Perry (‘Scandal’) set to play Mary Cooper, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. CBS and producers Warner Bros. Television declined comment,” THR reports.

The report notes that none of the cast members from “The Big Bang Theory” are involved in onscreen roles, although Parsons is an executive producer on the project. “Big Bang Theory” co-creator Chuck Lorre and showrunner Steve Molaro are writing the project.
