Comedian, actor and writer Charlie Murphy, who was battling leukemia in his final days, posted a poignant message on Twitter, which became his last tweet.

Posted Tuesday, the message, which is still up on his Twitter account, reads: “One to Sleep On: Release the past to rest as deeply as possible.”

As we reported previously, Murphy, perhaps best known for his appearances on “Chappelle’s Show,” died Wednesday at 57. Murphy was the older brother of Eddie Murphy.

Murphy’s family released a statement saying: “Our hearts are heavy with the loss today of our son, brother, father, uncle and friend Charlie. Charlie filled our family with love and laughter, and there won’t be a day that goes by that his presence will not be missed. Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and prayers. We respectfully ask for privacy during this time of great loss for all of us.”

  1. I wonder why it is that only at the end of our lives that we finally figure out that what is past is over and what is ahead is what matters? Rest in peace, Mr. Murphy.
