A drama series that’s thriving in its new home is proving that there’s life after cancellation. CMT announced today that it has renewed “Nashville” for a sixth season.

The show was canceled by ABC almost a year ago after the first four seasons aired on the broadcast network. It was then picked up by CMT and began airing its fifth season in January.

Along with announcing the season six pickup today, CMT also revealed that season five’s midseason premiere is set for June 1. Season six is scheduled to roll out in early 2018.

Set in the world of country music, the show has been CMT’s highest-rated and most-watched series in the channel’s history.
