“Star Trek” fans now have a good idea of what they’re in for with the new CBS All Access series “Star Trek: Discovery.” CBS unveiled a first-look video this week, which you can watch below.

The network also announced that the series will feature 15 episodes, up from the previously announced 13, and will include a companion after-show, “Talking Trek,” presented on CBS All Access.

“The return of the famed franchise will premiere in the U.S. on CBS All Access this fall, following a broadcast premiere on the CBS Television Network,” CBS noted. “‘Star Trek: Discovery’ will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself.”

The new series comes 50 years after the premiere of the original “Star Trek” TV series.

“The series will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers,” CBS said in its announcement.

  1. MPVD subscribers should have free access to this show considering payments made directly to CBS by companies that broadcast O&O’s and through parent broadcasters. On top of that, Moonves obscene salary (not even taking into account Julie Chen’s CBS salary and perks) says how much this is pure greed. This is not in the public interest as a broadcaster.

  2. The best way to stop this is to not subscribe. If there are no subscriptions this will end quickly

  3. I won’t be subscribing. I pay too much for TV as it is.
