HBO’s megahit “Game of Thrones” will soon be winding down, but that doesn’t mean the pay-cable channel is ready to let go.

Far from it, in fact. Deadline.com reports that the “succession plan” at HBO includes developing four new series that will be offshoots of “Game of Thrones.”

“The network would not specify whether the series would be prequels, sequels, spinoffs or companion series to ‘GOT’ (or all of the above), only noting that each project would ‘explore different time periods of George R. R. Martin’s vast and rich universe’ in his epic ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ fantasy book series,” Deadline reports.

The original series is moving toward its eighth and final season on HBO, which has reportedly signed deals with four writers, in addition to Martin, to develop the new projects. The writers are Max Borenstein, Jane Goldman, Brian Helgeland and Carly Wray.
