New Feud Breaks Out Between Trump Campaign and CNN — Here’s What They’re Fighting About

The Donald Trump campaign is lashing out at CNN, which is digging in as the two sides clash over an advertisement the campaign wants to run on the cable news channel.

The AP reports that the campaign is upset with CNN’s refusal to air an ad touting Trump’s achievements in his first 100 days in office.

“CNN said it requested that the campaign remove a portion that referred to the mainstream media as fake news,” the AP reports. But the campaign reportedly said CNN rejected the ad because it “doesn’t fit their narrative.”

CNN is quoted in the story saying: “The mainstream media is not fake news, and therefore the ad is false and per policy will be accepted only if that graphic is deleted.”

The AP notes: “The Trump campaign said the ad, which says ‘America has rarely seen such success,’ is running on Fox News Channel and the Fox Business Network.”

  1. If CNN turned away the ads from the other side that contain inaccurate facts about the Trump administration, this rejection would be more credible.

  2. The only accomplishments Trump has to his credit in these first days of his (hopefully) short term is putting Gorsuch in the Supreme Court and undoing everything possible for the people of this country to favor the Uber-Wealthy. America’s great again, if you have a HUGE net worth.

  3. What is eating Gilbert Grape today??? Well, I guess it’s that Trump is cleaning the swamp of his horder infested democratic swamp. Tough Luck on this one Gilbert “The Grape.” You lost. You’ll have to get a job now. 🙂

  4. The ad is full of lies or exaggerations as most real news organizations and fact checking sites have shown. They should show it and superimpse the real facts, like others are doing.

  5. CNN has worked long and hard to become known as FNN, The Fake News Network. Why should they allow someone to run an ad on their channel that is negative towards them. CNN is quoted in the story saying: “The mainstream media is not fake news,…”. Understand, CNN does not want other “mainstream media” to get credit for the title they have worked so hard to achieve. But I’m curious why the Trump campaign would even want to give ad money to a network they dislike. Doesn’t make any sense to me.

  6. It would help to actually see the ad before commenting. Yes, the editorial content of ads shouldn’t be subject to debatable decisions about appropriateness. But, also, yes, the media/ advertising platform should have the flexibility of deciding what is counter productive to their intersts.
