“‘Sleepy Hollow’ isn’t gonna wake up next fall. Fox has canceled the supernatural drama after four seasons.” So writes our good friend James Hibberd at Entertainment Weekly.
“The series was a break-out hit its first year and instantly made a star of lead Tom Mison (as Ichabod Crane),” Hibberd writes. “Yet the show struggled to stay on track creatively with a gonzo whiplash mythology that frustrated viewers.
“The final season attempted to relaunch the format without original co-lead Nicole Beharie, shifting the action to Washington, D.C. But season 4 averaged only 3.3 million viewers and a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49, including DVR.”

I was one of the big fans of the show when it started, but the last season, without Beharie, just didn’t cut it, and the last part of the season before too. I hate to say this, but, I’m not going to miss the new version of the show.
Another show with a good premise that can’t be sustained. This is why you see so much success outside of broadcast. With shows limited to 8-12 episodes, the writers have time to attempt to extend the program for another season with interesting plot twists. You see this decline already starting with Designated Survivor. The main plot has been set aside for politics and pushing particular points of views in side plots that have nothing to do with the original premise of the show.
