TV Critic to TV Executives: Let Sleeping ‘Lassie’ Lie

At least one TV critic is asking the same question a lot of viewers have been pondering: Why can’t TV let its dead rest?

Writing on Philly.com, veteran critic Ellen Gray examines the flood of reboots that are currently in the pipeline — “Dynasty,” “Will & Grace,” “Twin Peaks,” “American Idol” and “Roseanne,” to name a few — and observes: “Of the trends that emerged from the broadcast networks’ annual pitch to advertisers in recent days, nostalgia had to be the saddest.”

After rewatching the original “Twin Peaks” from 1990-1991, Grey concluded: “Maybe the latest ‘Twin Peaks’ will be terrific, too, but I’d be more curious to see Lynch and Frost come up with something entirely fresh, especially as they no longer have to deal with broadcast television and the need to appeal to a wide audience.”

  1. Bozo the Clown is coming back in a full remake … there is a soon-to-be former president that would be perfect in the role … he already knows how to run a circus!
