The numbers are in for the first week of Kelly Ripa’s morning show with her new full-time co-host, Ryan Seacrest. “Live with Kelly & Ryan” saw a surge in viewers after announcing last Monday that the show had selected Seacrest for the job.

“During its inaugural week (w/o 5/1/17), the newly rechristened ‘LIVE with Kelly and Ryan’ shot up over the prior week by 18% in Households (2.6/9 vs. 2.2/8) to score the show’s highest-rated week in 9 weeks, while soaring week to week by 22% among Women 25-54 (1.1/9 vs. 0.9/7) to match a 9-week high — since the show’s post-Oscars week in February (w/o 2/27/17),” the show’s distributor, Disney-ABC, announced today.

The announcement cites Nielsen Metered Market Live+Same Day figures for the week of May 1.

“’LIVE with Kelly and Ryan’ was the week’s No. 1 syndicated talk show in Women 25-54 (1.1/9), beating ‘Dr. Phil’ by 22% (0.9/6) and ‘Ellen’ by 10% (1.0/7),” the announcement adds. “In addition, ‘LIVE with Kelly and Ryan’ ran neck-and-neck with ‘Dr. Phil’ for No. 1 in Households, with just 1-tenth of a rating point between the two programs (2.6/9 vs. 2.7/8), while also topping ‘Ellen’ by 8% (2.4/7).”

  1. Most shows get a bump when they add a familiar name. I am sure the Megyn Kelly show will see a big number it’s first week. Let’s check a couple months from now and see how they both are doing.

  2. Yup..agree

  3. Really wanted it to go to Jerry O’Connell. He is young and fun. Ryan is kind of boring. I am sure he was a “safe” choice. Maybe the decision wasn’t made by
Kelly. Maybe the network was worried about Megyn Kelly taking their audience and
    went with a safe choice.
