Bill O’Reilly Says He May Create a Competitor to Fox News

Bill O’Reilly says he may go into competition with the cable channel that dumped him amid an advertiser revolt stemming from revelations that the Fox News fixture settled sexual harassment allegations.

Newsday reports that O’Reilly dropped the hint during the question-and-answer session at his first public appearance since he was forced out at Fox News in April, opening his “The Spin Stops Here” tour Saturday at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury.

“Asked whether he planned to start his own network, he said ‘there could be a new network’ that will compete directly with Fox News. ‘A bunch of people are looking to compete with Fox because there’s a perception’ of decline, he said,” Newsday reports.

O’Reilly added: “But I am starting my own operation. We are going to do that.” He said his website will beta test a half-hour newscast “where we will go into a studio and here it will look like ‘The Factor.’ … It’s basically an experiment to see how many people are going to want this service. That’s coming and will be here before September in a robust form. But I suspect there will be another network maybe merging with us. There will be a network that rises up because the numbers for Fox are going down.”

  1. Just what we need…another network full of crazed pundits screaming through frothed lips about some wild conspiracy theory. These half-baked “news” networks further polarize this country and aids our enemies rather than helping any of us. But perhaps that is the intention.

  2. Ditto what Tim said. Thank you, Tim.

  3. What Tim just described sounds exactly like CNN and MSNBC!
