Growth in Mobile News Being Driven by … Older Demos

A new survey finds that adults 65 and older are becoming more plugged in when it comes to mobile news. Multichannel News reports that the Pew Research Center study found that 85% of adults in the U.S. have received news from a mobile device, an increase from 72% last year and 54% in 2013.

“The growth has been driven by older demos accessing more mobile news, Pew noted,” the story reports. “Two-thirds of those 65 and older said they get news on a mobile device (67%), up 24 percentage points in just one year, and three times the number who said they did in 2013, Pew said.”

The number is 79% among those ages 50-65, compared with more than nine in 10 of those in the 18-49 bracket — which is unchanged from a year ago.
