MTV is celebrating its highest-rated series premiere in two years. The Viacom-owned channel rolled out its “Fear Factor” reboot on Tuesday, with the premiere improving on the time period average by a massive 164% in the target 18-34 demo.

“’Fear Factor’ delivered a .83 (P18-34) rating and nearly one million total viewers,” MTV announced. “It was also Tuesday’s #1 unscripted show on cable (P18-34) and helped deliver MTV’s best Tuesday in a year and a half.”

The new version of the show, airing at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Tuesdays, is hosted by Ludacris. Anthony Carbone, Charles Wachter, Kevin Wehrenberg, Rob Smith and Robin Feinberg are executive producers for Endemol Shine North America, with Nina L. Diaz, Pamela Post and Tim Palazzola executive producing for MTV.

MTV, which defines itself as “a global youth culture brand inspired by music,” says the new “Fear Factor” is “custom-created for a generation that is increasingly empowered, while also more anxious than ever. Filled with new stunts inspired by urban legends, popular scary movies and viral videos from today’s cultural zeitgeist, ‘Fear Factor’ contestants confront their fears, push beyond their comfort zones and take action against some of their biggest stressors.”

MTV also noted that “The Challenge: Champs vs. Pros” delivered a season high with a .61, up +13% (P18-34).
