A series that is a fixture on prime-time television in the U.S. has been named the most-watched drama in the world. CBS announced that “NCIS” was awarded the title, receiving the 12th International Television Audience Award for a Drama TV Series today at the 57th Monte-Carlo Television Festival.
More than 47 million viewers worldwide watched “NCIS” in 2016, according to the announcement. Figures are from Eurodata TV Worldwide.
It was the third year in the past four that “NCIS” received the honor.
CBS said the series is also the No. 1 drama on U.S. television for the eighth consecutive year.
