One cable channel has been especially busy on the development side, if an announcement released today by HGTV is any indication. While announcing the expansion of its “Flip or Flop” and “Property Brothers” franchises, HGTV slipped in the nugget that it plans to premiere 314 prime-time hours on its programming slate from now through the end of the year.

Even more impressive is this bit included in the announcement: “In addition, the network’s strong development strategy has generated 40 pilots and more than 75 concepts in incubation for the 2018 pipeline.”

John Feld, senior vice president of original programming for HGTV, DIY Network and Great American Country, comments in the announcement: “HGTV continues to deliver more than 66 million total viewers per month because home renovations, fantasy lifestyles and house flipping are universal, family-friendly topics that resonate with everyone.”

About those “Flip or Flop” and “Property Brothers” expansions, the announcement notes: “‘Flip or Flop Atlanta,’ starring Ken and Anita Corsini, is scheduled for a July premiere and ‘Flip or Flop Fort Worth,’ starring Andy and Ashley Williams, is expected to premiere in November. In addition, Drew and Jonathan Scott will return in ‘Property Brothers at Home: Drew’s Honeymoon House’ — the most important home renovation of the Brothers’ careers.”

The announcement adds: “The second half of the year also will feature new episodes of the hit series ‘Fixer Upper’ (Chip and Joanna Gaines) and the original ‘Flip or Flop’ (Tarek and Christina El Moussa). And, popular series ‘Good Bones’ (Karen E Laine and Mina Starsiak) is currently in its second season run, while ‘My Lottery Dream Home’ (David Bromstad) has accelerated post-production on new episodes.”

And there’s this: “‘Tiny Paradise’ joins HGTV’s ‘tiny’ lineup along with new seasons of ‘Tiny House, Big Living’ and ‘Tiny Luxury.’ The ‘House Hunters’ franchise will add two new installments: ‘House Hunters Family’ and ‘House Hunters Outside the Box.’ The network also has increased production on new episodes of ‘Beachfront Bargain Hunt,’ ‘Beach Hunters,’ ‘Island Life’ and ‘Mexico Life.'”
