Madonna was granted a court order halting the auction of what the pop singer calls “highly personal items.” The New York Post’s Page Six reports the the order from Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Gerald Leibovitz means that 22 items had to be pulled from the rock ‘n’ roll-themed auction.

The auction by New York-based Gotta Have It! Collectibles was scheduled for today.

Among the items covered by the order are a letter from her former boyfriend, the late Tupac Shakur, a pair of worn panties and a hairbrush containing some of Madonna’s hair. The Tupac letter has been described as a breakup letter.

The Post’s quotes from the emergency legal filing by Madonna hint at her disgust that a fan might take possession of a piece of her.

“I understand that my DNA could be extracted form a piece of my hair. It is outrageous and grossly offensive that my DNA could be auctioned for sale to the general public,” her court filing says. The filing adds: “I was shocked to learn of the planned auctioning of the Shakur letter, as I had no idea that the Shakur letter was no longer in my possession.”

The report notes that the Shakur letter was expected to bring as much as $400,000 at auction.

Madonna reportedly singles out Manhattan art consultant as the culprit in obtaining the personal items. In her filing, Madonna refers to her as a “former friend.”

Lutz “would have had access to these items on numerous occasions,” including as a “frequent overnight guest” in Madonna’s homes when the singer was not home, according to the suit.

The auction house reportedly plans to fight the order, with a hearing set for September.

  1. If Madonna is so disgusted that her DNA might be somewhere other than in her possession, I would suggest she no longer go out in public or attend any function anywhere… because just like everyone else, she’s left her DNA everywhere she’s gone to, particularly where she’s sat down or eaten at.

  2. Don’t forget, she claims that the letter was stolen from her home.

  3. This offends you?? You spreading your legs all the time in concerts offends me.
