MTV today named the host of the upcoming Video Music Awards, announcing that the Aug. 27 ceremony will be hosted by Katy Perry. The pop superstar will also perform during the VMAs.
The ceremony will be televised live from the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood, Calif.
The appearance by Perry comes just ahead of the launch of her world tour in support of her chart-topping “Witness” album.
Perry is also among the top nominees at this year’s awards with five nominations, for Best Pop, Best Direction and Best Visual Effects for “Chained to the Rhythm,” Best Art Direction for “Bon Appetit,” and Best Collaboration for Calvin Harris’ “Feels” featuring Pharrell Williams, Perry and Big Sean.
