Chris Christie reportedly made one costly mistake with Donald Trump, and it’s being cited as the reason Christie, who was a steadfast supporter of Trump during the presidential campaign, didn’t end up with a job in the Trump White House.

A report by the U.K. publication The Daily Mail says Christie made the mistake of arranging to have President Obama call Trump on Christie’s cellphone on election night to offer his congratulations. The problem, according to the report, is that Trump is a germophobe and did not want to use Christie’s phone.

The report cites a new book, “Devil’s Bargain: Steve Bannon, Donald Trump, and the Storming of the Presidency,” by Joshua Green.

Trump reportedly became furious with Christie on election night, screaming at him: “You know my number, just give it to the President, I don’t want your f***ing phone.”

The report adds that Trump was “horrified at the idea of having Christie’s phone next to his face.”
