Trump Says He Timed Arpaio Pardon to Maximize Ratings

Aug 28, 2017  •  Post A Comment

Donald Trump said Monday that he timed his pardon of former Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff Joe Arpaio to coincide with Hurricane Harvey in an effort to maximize ratings, Deadline reports.

Trump talked about the timing of the event in response to speculation by some in the press who thought the timing was intended to bury the news of the pardon. To the contrary, Trump says he wanted to bring more awareness to the controversial pardon.

Deadline quotes Trump saying: “I assumed the ratings would be far higher than they would be normally — the hurricane was just starting.”

Deadline adds: “In anticipation of the question about the timing, Trump brought with him, and read, a list of previous pardons of controversial or sleazy types that had been handed out by Democratic presidents. Arpaio was ‘very unfairly treated by the Obama administration,’ Trump said, adding that he stands by his decision to pardon the sheriff.”

  1. That’s just the first high profile pardon …

I just heard from a friend at the White House that Trump has plans for ratings history with
his soon-to-be announced pardon of Charles Manson … UNBELIEVABLE !

  2. What a fucking moron. This isn’t reality TV, this is REALITY. Real life doesn’t come with RATINGS. Real life comes with RESPONSIBILITY.

  3. For those who think this is unbelievable, please read the list of Presidential Pardons done by all American Presidents https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_pardoned_or_granted_clemency_by_the_President_of_the_United_States
