A cable drama series has been hit with the cancellation ax just one month after the show’s season finale. The demise of Spike’s Stephen King series “The Mist” comes after the show, which premiered back in June, aired a single 10-episode season.

Spike announced the show’s cancellation Wednesday.

The show is based on King’s horror novella of the same name, and concerns an unexplained mist that envelops the town of Bridgeville, Maine. To make matters worse, the mist hides a variety of deadly monsters.

The project received a straight-to-series order from Spike. The show starred Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney and Danica Curcic.

The series reportedly averaged only a 0.14 rating in the key 18-49 demo, along with 462,000 total viewers.

Spike will be rebranding as the Paramount Network on Jan. 18.
