A rapper was taken to the hospital Tuesday after being shot near the famed Hollywood, Calif., intersection of Hollywood and Highland. Law enforcement sources said Young Dolph was shot multiple times outside Shoe Palace, according to TMZ. The rapper may have been buying sneakers at the store.

Officers were reportedly nearby and responded immediately.

Initial reports were that Young Dolph, 32, whose real name is Adolph Thornton Jr., suffered multiple gunshot wounds, none of which appeared to be life-threatening.

TMZ noted that it was unclear how many people may have fired at the rapper. In a follow-up note Tuesday afternoon, the website reported that the LAPD had detained one person in connection with the incident.

Young Dolph was apparently the target of gunfire in a separate incident earlier this year in Charlotte, N.C. In that incident on Feb. 25, at least two vehicles and several weapons were involved, with Charlotte-Mecklenburg police reporting that as many as 100 rounds may have been fired.

Young Dolph reportedly later used the publicity from the Charlotte incident to promote his album “Bulletproof.”

TMZ reports that Blac Youngsta turned himself in to authorities in May in connection with the Charlotte shooting after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

There has been speculation that the Charlotte shooting grew out of a rivalry between Young Dolph and another rapper, Yo Gotti.
