Fallout from the Harvey Weinstein scandal has been spreading throughout Hollywood, and at least one high-profile actor, Ben Affleck, is now facing his own allegations of sexual misconduct.
Affleck put himself in the line of fire Tuesday when he sounded off about Weinstein on Twitter, writing, in part: “I am saddened and angry that a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over the decades.”
Among the responses were several that were less than supportive. Comicbook.com, which is covering the story in connection with Affleck’s involvement in the “Justice League” movie, compiled examples of the Affleck-focused Twitter discussion, which you can read by clicking here.
After one Twitter user tweeted, in reference to Affleck, “He also grabbed Hilarie Burton’s breasts on TRL once. Everyone forgot though,” Hilarie Burton herself responded with a succinct tweet saying: “I didn’t forget.” The exchange reportedly involves an on-camera segment of the MTV show from the early 2000s, when Burton was an MTV VJ.
Affleck tweeted out today: “I acted inappropriately toward Ms. Burton and I sincerely apologize.”
But that wasn’t the end of it. A tweet his afternoon from makeup artist Annamarie Tendler reads: “I would also love to get an apology from Ben Affleck who grabbed my ass at a Golden Globes party in 2014.”
Meanwhile, a racy video from Canadian TV, which you can watch below, appears to be adding fuel to the Affleck situation. But TheWrap reports that the woman seen in the clip from the Canadian show “Box Office,” TV personality Anne-Marie Losique, says Affleck did nothing wrong in the video.
Losique reportedly told TheWrap the antics were “all for the cameras,” adding that the intense flirtation in the clip occurred “naturally.” She called the incident “this fun thing,” adding that her interviews with Affleck around that time were “immensely popular” in Quebec.
Losique is quoted by TheWrap saying: “Everybody wants a new scandal, but it’s not. It wasn’t a big master plan, by the way — not on his side, not on my side.”
