CBS will be bringing back a drama series for another season. The broadcast network unveiled plans today for a second season of its summer thriller “Salvation,” starring Santiago Cabrera, Jennifer Finnigan, Charlie Rowe, Jacqueline Byers, Rachel Drance and Ian Anthony Dale.
Season two of the serialized drama received a 13-episode order, with the season to unspool in summer 2018.
The series centers on Liam Cole, an MIT grad student, and tech whiz Darius Tanz, who bring Pentagon official Grace Barrows the news that an asteroid is just months away from colliding with Earth. With the added threat of nuclear war on the horizon, they work together with Secretary of Defense Harris Edwards in an attempt to divert the asteroid, stop the war and save humanity before time runs out.
Liz Kruger, Craig Shapiro, Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Stuart Gillard and Peter Lenkov are executive producers for CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout.
