‘House of Cards’ Canceled as Fallout From Sexual Misconduct Allegations Piles Up for Kevin Spacey

The fallout from allegations of sexual misconduct by “House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey continues to pile up. As we reported previously, the actor apologized after being accused of making a sexual advance on fellow actor Anthony Rapp 31 years ago, when Rapp was 14 years old.

Now Netflix has canceled “House of Cards,” with the streaming service and producer Media Rights Capital issuing a joint statement today saying: “Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last night’s news concerning Kevin Spacey. In response to last night’s revelations, executives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported. As previously scheduled, Kevin Spacey is not working on set at this time.”

Netflix also said it is pulling the plug on the series at the end of the upcoming sixth season. However, the AP reports that the decision to end the series was made several months ago, although it was just announced today.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences also is taking action against Spacey, issuing a statement this afternoon saying: “The International Academy has announced today that in light of recent events it will not honor Kevin Spacey with the 2017 International Emmy Founders Award.”

  1. So long Spacey! Glad the hammer is coming down on you. Now go disappear… or go to jail. Either way, it’s a win, win!

  2. This is absolute BULLSHIT … a teen way back when went to a gay party (that was surely for adults) and
got himself in bed with a famous actor … now over 30 years later, this hasbeen of an actor (now in his 40s) decided to jump on the bandwagon to either (1), cash in and / or (2) get a boost in his own pathetic career which is near dead … a drunken Spacey made a mistake and after decades of incredible work, has to pay a high price … Anthony Rapp … go to hell … I have never written anything like this …. this former teen groupie has now put a dent in an amazing career of one of the best actors of our time … why has it taken 30 years for this to come out … and for something so minimal compared to the absolute BS delivered by Harvey Weinstein … a truly evil piece of shit who has affected dozens of people in the worst way … that A-Hole
destroyed one of my partner companies … anyway, people need to stand up for solid talent like Kevin and stop unilaterally supporting BS like the so-called, RAPP STAR …

  3. Let’s be honest here. This was all about outing Mr. Spacey, who has a past involving creepy-ness. Does anyone remember how he was caught in a park late at night in 2004? Ah yes. Another rich, white, powerful man is brought down due to his sexual compulsion. I predict that more men claiming man on man sexual harrassment and groping will be coming forward. But hey, it was all fine and dandy when they were making money. The price of conducting business if you will.

  4. There’s a nagging piece of this story that’s missing. What parent allows their 14 year old son to go to an all adult party unaccompanied? I’m not placing blame anywhere other than Spacey but obviously Rapp’s parents have quite a different parenting style than mine.

  5. Bo, so what if Spacey is talented? That should absolve him of lewd acts on a minor??? You moron.
