Legendary TV Executive Linda Bloodworth-Thomason on Four Decades of Harassment in Hollywood: ‘The No. 1 casting criterion in Hollywood is that, above all else, an actress must be ‘hot and f—able’’

Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, a veteran of decades as a Hollywood writer and TV producer best-known for creating “Designing Women” and for her long allegiance with the Clintons, tells of years of sexual impropriety and abuse of power in Hollywood in a guest column published today by The Hollywood Reporter.

While she says she warned Democratic operatives about Harvey Weinstein, she paints a picture of a more pervasive problem with misogyny in Hollywood.

“Harvey Weinstein may have been at the top of the sexual predator food chain, but these kinds of atrocities against women routinely go unreported and unpunished in the entertainment industry,” Bloodworth-Thomason writes. “The No. 1 casting criterion in Hollywood is that, above all else, an actress must be ‘hot and fuckable.’ The late blockbuster movie producer Don Simpson had his own way of measuring hotness when he bragged about which actresses’ butts he was able to bounce a dime off of.”

The column pulls back the curtain on incidents involving network executives, producers, stars and others who Bloodworth-Thomason says are part of a culture of gender inequity and sexual misconduct that runs rampant in Hollywood. The writer even gives a shout-out to Donald Trump as “the only sexual predator, to date, who’s told the truth.”

  1. When will all of these women point some fingers at these abusers? This can’t stop until they are called out publicly. It is easy to come out and attack Harvey Weinstein, now, after a few courageous women went on the record. If Linda knew this was going on, as she claims in her column, why did she not come out and say so? With Designing Women, she was in great position to point fingers at all these people she is now making inferences about, but still not calling out. But instead of calling the abusers out, she decided it was better use of her time and power to write an apology for the most visible abuser of a young woman intern on his staff in our lifetimes. Until women come out and say who these directors and producers are, the police and prosecutors cannot take action. And the public cannot boycott their movies and tv programs.

  2. Once again Cleric you are spot on with your observations. It’s not like this is a deep dark secret just coming to light. This has been going on for as long as we’ve had Hollywood. And politics is just as guilty as Hollywood. From FDR to Kennedy, to Bill Clinton, Democrat and Republican alike, there has ALWAYS been this problem. What’s interesting though, is how many excuses the left made and continues to make for a serial predator of women (Bill Clinton) who actually DID rape, assault and seduce women in the OVAL OFFICE (remember, it was only SEX! Give Bill his privacy! It’s not affecting his job performance…and on and on it went). While Trump SAYS something in an off the record interview that was vulgar, but not in any provable way an “action” and the left has a hissy fit. Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, for her defense of Bill Clinton, will wear that shame for eternity.

  3. That’s right Guilty Cleric, let’s blame the women. If these dames would just come forward then it wouldn’t be an issue. Let’s not spend any time talking about the MEN that are doing these things.

By the way, a number of victims have been saying things for years and they’ve been called slut, crazy, liar, dumb, etc. What women have learned is that you have to have at least 20 women saying the exact same thing before anyone will take you seriously. Quit blaming the victims and maybe spend some time talking to men about their behavior.

  4. It’s not as though Bloodworth Thompson was without some series influence and juice while all this was going on! So now that others stuck their nexus out ( Ashley Judd) LBT now feels empowered to ” blow the whistle”, but still without naming names??
    Too little and too late
    Shame on you

  5. I still can’t get over how much the left gives a pass to whatever the clintons do, it sickens me.

  6. She’s a hypocrite since she and Harry were thisclose to Bill and Hillary and Bill was the Fornicator-In-Chief, just following in the footsteps of his idol JFK.

  7. Just Another Guy: Cleric is obviously not blaming the “Women.” He’s specifically blaming LBT for her “selective” outrage. You are smarter than that. you don’t have to feign “outrage” for something that is not there to get your point across.

  8. Someone is lying. Hillary Clinton claims she was “shocked” and had no idea about Harvey Weinstein’s reputation as a serial abuser of women, until she read about it in the recent New York Times expose’.

Yet her gal pal, bff and personal confidant for DECADES, Linda Bloodworth-Thomason claims she warned Democrats has warned Democrats about Weinstein for years and years.

There is some need for some fast Hillarysplaining of this contradiction.

  9. I’m sorry that Linda Bloodworth experience what she went through, though she is being quite hypocritical. In her article she talks about writing Clinton’s “apology to the nation for his own sexual misconduct, … and believe to this day it was based on something that was none of our business.” Excuse me? Clinton used his position and power as Governor and President to have sex with those underneath him. That is clearly sexual harassment and why is that non of our business? If what Kevin Spacey, Duston Hoffman, and the other men in Hollywood did is our business, then what Clinton did to those women is certainly our business.

So basically she is saying that sexual harassment is ok if you agree with the persons ideology. She is a complete hypocrite.
