Staffers on a popular talk show are expressing concern over the health of the show’s host after she passed out on live TV. TMZ reports that Wendy Williams fainted in the middle of her show this morning — you can watch the incident in the clip below.
Williams was dressed up as the Statue of Liberty for her special Halloween show, and the heavy costume apparently caused her to overheat. The live East Coast feed cut to black and reportedly went to an extended commercial break. Williams was back in action after the break.
“When they returned Wendy explained she overheated from her costume,” TMZ notes. “We’ve learned the fire department responded to the studio. Unclear what her condition is, but she was alright enough to finish the show.”
The New York Post’s Page Six reports that staffers on the show are worried about Williams’ health.
The Post quotes an insider saying: “Wendy has become very thin recently, and the show staff wonders if she is under a lot of personal stress.”
The report adds: “A show insider said staffers are worried about Williams, following a report that her husband, Kevin Hunter, cheated on her with 32-year-old massage therapist Sharina Hudson, which they both strongly denied.”
Williams’ rep Ronn Torossian attributed the fainting incident to dehydration, issuing a statement saying: “Ms. Williams fainted on-air this morning. She is dehydrated and is on her way home for a good day and night of sleep. She has been examined by medical professionals and is well. She is OK, and will continue shows as planned. She will address this on-air tomorrow.”
