MTV is on a hot streak, with five consecutive months of growth — the cable net’s best streak in six years — and a record-breaking premiere night on Monday for both new and returning series.

The network reported that “MTV Floribama Shore” delivered a .94 average rating in MTV’s core demo (P18-34) with 846,000 total viewers (P2+) for the series’ launch at 10 p.m. to rank as the network’s highest-rated new series premiere in more than three years. The second episode debuted at 11 p.m. with a .87 (P18-34), retaining 93% of its lead-in.

Returning series “Teen Mom OG” debuted at 9 p.m. with a 1.25 (P18-34), up 19% over the previous season average and the biggest “Teen Mom OG” launch in three seasons.

“Set in the Florida Panhandle along the beach that stretches all the way to Alabama, ‘MTV Floribama Shore’ is the story of eight young adults who come to spend the summer in the hottest beach town on the Gulf Coast, Panama City Beach, to party it up and put the real world on hold for just a little bit longer,” MTV notes in its announcement. “This coming of age story captures the very real thrill and angst of being young and trying to figure out the future with a group of people you’ll come to call family.”

  1. What garbage. Empty ratings for shows that MTV Ad Sales will never sell to brands because what brand wants to be associated with this trash.

  2. I heard that Waste Management, the national trash collection company was coming aboard as title sponsor
