A prominent Hollywood actor confirmed that the protest planned for the upcoming Golden Globe Awards will include men. EW.com reports that Dwayne Johnson confirmed that at least some of the men attending the Jan. 7 ceremony will wear black in solidarity with their female counterparts.

The confirmation by the Rock comes after celebrity stylist Ilaria Urbinanti — who styles actors including Tom Hiddleston, Armie Hammer and Garrett Hedlund, along with Johnson — announced on social media back on Dec. 21: “YES, the men WILL be standing in solidarity with women on this wearing-all-black movement to protest against gender inequality at this year’s Golden Globes. At least ALL MY GUYS will be. Safe to say this may not be the right time to choose to be the odd man out here… just sayin…”

It was widely reported earlier this month that many of the actresses attending the Golden Globes would dress in black as a protest against decades of sexual harassment and sexual assault in Hollywood.

  1. If these people really want to make a difference, start pushing for Patty Jenkins to win the Academy Award for Best Director. The way to really stop this is to enable women at the top of the Hollywood system and break up the old boys club that continues to hide and cover up when their buddies pull these stunts. Jenkins blew-up the closed system that only men could make a superstar feature. She made a Woman the star, and Gal Gadot carried the film as the hero, not a sidekick. And Wonder Woman beat real bad guys, not CGI monsters. Young girls and their mothers (as well as their dads and brothers) saw a woman lead the men to victory. This gave young girls and women a true movie role model. Beyond that, Jenkins showed how life could be brought back to the DC Franchise by good direction and story telling, not the snarky, demeaning, sexual innuendo that was present in the recent mediocre Justice League. Oh, and by the way, the film was one of the biggest money makers of the year, not just in box office, but also merchandising to the young fans. If the Hollywood stars really want to send a message about female equality in the movie industry, they should wear red, white and gold and celebrate Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins and the equality that they stand for.

  2. Why not as many of the women & men in Hollywood knew about Weinstein but chose to remain silent. All this is is a PR stunt they hope will make the public forget they were complicit!
