Reality TV Personality Omarosa Exits White House Post Amid Reports of Drama

Did she quit or was she fired? That’s one of the questions surrounding the abrupt exit of reality personality Omarosa Manigault Newman from her job in the Trump White House.

Another question some media outlets are weighing is just what Omarosa’s job was.

For its part, the White House issued a brief statement today in which it said former “Apprentice” and “Celebrity Apprentice” contestant Omarosa “resigned yesterday to pursue other opportunities. Her departure will not be effective until January 20, 2018. We wish her the best in future endeavors and are grateful for her service.”

“Known as Omarosa from her reality TV days, Newman was White House director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison — although what her job actually entailed was less than clear,” NPR reports. “She was the highest-ranking African-American in the White House and a staunch defender of the president, telling PBS’ ‘Frontline’ before the 2016 presidential election that ‘every critic, every detractor, will have to bow down to President Trump. It’s everyone who’s ever doubted Donald. Who ever disagreed, who ever challenged him. It is the ultimate revenge to become the most powerful man in the universe.'”

CNN political analyst and American Urban Radio Network reporter April D. Ryan issued a series of tweets today discussing Omarosa’s exit, including a number of messages that appear to contradict the White House version of the story.

“Sources say General Kelly did the firing and Omarosa is alleged to have acted very vulgar and cursed a lot and said she helped elect President Trump. The word is a General Kelly had it and got rid of her,” Ryan tweeted this morning.

In a subsequent message, Ryan tweeted: “According to multiple sources Omarosa did not resign. She was even escorted out of [the] building and off campus.”

A later tweet from Ryan says: “Okay the White House still contends Omarosa signed a resignation letter. But Gen Kelly Kicked her out [with] high drama with the Minister offering vulgarities and curse words as she was escorted out of the building and off campus.”

NPR also notes that Ryan first reported Omarosa was escorted from the White House by the Secret Service after allegedly trying to talk with Trump at the White House residence Tuesday night.

  1. Why was Omarosa escorted off the White House grounds, if her departure doesn’t become effective until Jan. 20, 2018? Interesting we haven’t heard her name in the news, the entire time she was there.
